Mary Callery
(1903-1977) was a sculptress. Like many
other artists in France, she left as the German Army approached Paris.
Actually her flight to New York was a return to the city of her birth. He
parents were rich and her upbringing in Manhattan was privileged, but she
was also beautiful, talented and charismatic. She had been married and
divorced twice and was believed to have had affairs with both Lèger and
Picasso. Her contribution to the Imagery of Chess show is unknown.
