The
Bishop Berkley offered me this newspaper clipping from the archives of the
Scotsman Newspaper. It's a bit hard to read in places, but worth
the effort.
The Scotsman was founded as a weekly newspaper in 1817 (on
January 25th - Robert Burns' birthday) by William Ritchie and
Charles Maclaren. It became a daily paper in 1855. It's was originally
published at 347 High Street in Edinburgh and later moved first to Cockburn
Street and then to an elaborate site on the historic North Bridge. Finally it settled
in it's present location of 108 Holyrood Road.
