Sarah's web site quotes W.R. Henry in the American Chess Magazine to the effect that Cook and Perrin played while Perrin was at Princeton. According to 'The Steinitz Papers' (p.300), Perrin was at Princeton from 1849 to 1852. I assume that these even games were played in 1852, since Cook was at first given odds by Perrin and only gradually improved until they played even. |
