Notes: |
Harding gives the exact starting date and the most probable ending date. The start date comes from the (London) Standard of 23 Apr. 1895 and the Field of 27 Apr. 1895. The date of the last game is most likely 16 May, though it may have been 15 May, as the Field of 18 May 1895 reported that the score 'on Thursday night' (i.e. the 16th) was +3-3=3 and that the match was expected to be abandoned. The eighth game had been played on 13 May 1895. |
