Notes: |
Spinrad says that this result is 'sometimes' specified as at Pawn and two move odds; World Chess Champions (edited by Winter) and Mark Weeks indicate that Staunton gave Pawn and two move odds. Also, Staunton gives one game of the match in the Chess Player's Chronicle (v.6, 1845, p.231) and says that Staunton gave Pawn and two moves. Mongredien was President of the Liverpool Chess Club, so the most likely locations for the match were London and Liverpool. |
