Spinrad and Mark Weeks give +5-2=1 for Staunton (giving Knight odds); Kingston cites Coles as giving +7-0 at Queen Knight odds in World Chess Champions. The Chess Player's Chronicle (vol.7, July 1846, pp.210-213) gives 3 of the games, 2 wins for Staunton and 1 for Hannah. This report says the match was 'lately played' so I estimate that it took place in June 1846. The Chess Player's Chronicle (vol.7, Aug. 1846, p.229) also mentions a Rook odds match between these two players, giving 3 games (pp.238-241, 360-362), +2-1 for Staunton. |
