Notes: |
According to de Saint-Amant, he played only 11 games on this trip to England, six of them during his 5-day visit to Liverpool, with Spreckley, Perigal, Mongredien and Schwabe. Three of the total of eleven games were played giving odds, and those must have been the two against Rhodes and one other against Schwabe, since they were the weakest of the opponents he lists. He says he won all of his games in Liverpool. One game each against Spreckley, Perigal and Mongredien are given, so the only thing not clear is which of these were his opponents in his other two games in Liverpool. Thus, his score against Mongredien could have been 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0. I will take 1-0, to be cautious. |
