| This is a partial result, the report in the Chess Player's Chronicle of Nov. 1855 giving 4-3 for Horwitz and indicating that the match was still in progress, but the 14 Oct. 1855 issue of the Era already has 4-3 for Horwitz. I do not know whether more games were played later. The Chess Player's Chronicle of Sept. 1855 indicates that it had already begun, and the 23 Sep. 1855 issue of the Era has a partial result of 3-1 for Horwitz. The 7 Oct. 1855 issue of the Era has partial result +1-1=0 (probably an error?). |
