| This is a 'soft' result. We do not know the actual score. The report in the Illustrated London News says that de Saint-Amant 'lost by one or two games only', and that 'It must have been between the years 1834 and 1835.' Since this result serves to establish that Mouret was still at least as strong as de Saint-Amant at this time, I adopt a result of 3-2 for Mouret, which is consistent with the narrow win margin, but doesn't assume too many games and thus doesn't place too much weight on the result. I will place it in 1835. |
