| This is a partial result, with the score, +3-2=2 for Horwitz, as reported in the 15 Nov. 1857 issue of the Era (p.14). The 11 Oct. 1857 issue (p.14) gave an earlier partial score, so it must have begun by early October. There was an earlier match, which was announced in the 13 Sep. 1857 issue (p.15), but the 11 Oct. 1857 issue only says that Horwitz won it, so I cannot use that result. |
