| Lawson gives a result of +5-0=1 for Morphy against Conway at Rook odds, taken from Conway's memoirs, but does not mention any Knight odds games. The Chess Monthly of Aug. 1859 (p.263) has a score of +6-0=0 for Morphy against Conway at Knight odds, but no mention of any Rook odds games. It is hard to know whether Conway's memoirs were faulty (though he says there that he has notes recording these games) or whether the Chess Monthly was in error regarding both the odds and the score. I will assume that both results are correct as stated, and record this Knight odds series separately, but it does seem strange that each source mentions only one set of games. |
