| The result is given in the 4 Mar. 1860 issue of the Era (p.14), as the first of 3 matches between them, where it says that the first two matches 'have just been concluded'. However, the Sunday Times of 22 May 1859 (supplement, p.3) says that 'some time back' they played a match in which Wormald won by the odd game. I am guessing that this is the first match mentioned in 1860, and that it took place early in 1859. |
