| There was a controversy in the press over whether or not these were legitimate games, or whether McConnell was allowed to take back moves, or whether fixed opening choices were imposed. It would seem that McConnell was not allowed to take back moves, but that the two players did conduct some experimentation with particular opening choices, though perhaps by mutual consent. I will allow them. |
