| The Hartford Weekly Times of 20 Jul. 1872 gives the result of the first game of this match only, and says it took place 'some months ago'. The Washington Evening Star of 23 Mar. 1895 (p.7) says that Hanna won a match of 7 games to win the Kansas championship at the age of 19, which may refer to the same match, although he would have been 19 in 1869-1870, not 1872. |
