| The Albion of 13 Jan. 1855 mentions a match between F.P. and T.L., and the 20 Jan. 1855 issue of the Albion gives the names Perrin and Lloyd. The New York Times of 14 Feb. 1855 has Perrin and Loyd, so it is clear that the players were Frederick Perrin and Thomas Loyd. The first game is given in the 13 Jan. 1855 issue of the New York Times, so it almost certainly started a few days before that. The final game is given in the 22 Feb. 1855 issue of the New York Times, so it finished within a few days of that date. |
