| This result is stated in the Phildelphia Daily Evening Bulletin of 12 Jan. 1866, but with no date or location given. Knight odds games between Morphy and Maurian are known at least from 1858 to 1869. Clearly, the score given here must refer to games played before Jan. 1866, but whether it was a series played all in 1865 or over several years up to 1865 is not clear. Nevertheless, it is an indication of relative strength around 1865, so I will include it. |
