| According to Staunton in the Illustrated London News of 11 Oct. 1856 (p.377) this is the result of a 'series of Chess Matches' between de Rivière and Schulten, 'terminated a few days since'. I do not know whether this includes the result of a match between them in Mar. 1856, reported in the 5 Apr. 1856 issue of the Illustrated London News and the Apr. 1856 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle (p.122), or for that matter, the match of the previous year between the same two players. I will count this as a separate result from those previous two matches. |
