| The report in the Charleston Sunday News says that Zukertort lost only four of many single-handed (as opposed to simultaneous or consultation) games; among these Ben R. Foster won two out of three, which is ratable (unlike others who won or drew one game, but out of how many is not reported). Since this report appears in the 20 Jan. 1884 issue, I guess that these games took place in late 1883, but they could have been in Jan. 1884. |
