Place: Boston, Massachusetts or Washington (?) |
Start date: Oct. 1838 |
End date: Oct. 1838 |

Notes: |
A Nov. 1838 entry in Oliver's journal (cited in Fiske) says that these games were played 'a few weeks ago'. A reasonable guess at the date therefore seems to be Oct. 1838. Picquet lived in Boston, O'Sullivan may at this time have lived in Washington D.C. (see also Fiske, p.402), but where the games were played is not clearly indicated. I do not know whether or not these games were considered a formal match. |
