Dubois says that Tassinari was successful against Budzynski, amongst others, in Paris, over the years 1853-1855, meaning he won more than he lost. Tassinari himself says in a letter dated 15 Feb. 1854, that he did not win against Budzynski but that the gap was small. However, he also says that Budzynski was a little weaker than Journoud and Seguin, with whom he was also close to equal in 1853. I will assume that Tassinari and Budzynski were about equal in 1853 but later (1854-1855) Tassinari did better so that eventually Dubois could say he was successful against Budzynski. Zavatarelli gives a draw between them, dated 17 Oct. 1853, and a win by Tassinari dated 4 May 1855. I will use a soft result of 1.5-0.5 in 1855. |
