| The article on Redding in the San Francisco Chronicle of 17 Feb. 1894 (p.9) does not say clearly where this match took place, but says that it was played in 1881, 'after his return from college', which suggests San Francisco. It also says of Redding, 'Resuming his residence in California in 1881...', making clear that he was from California originally, so it is likely to California that he returned after college. |
