| Von der Lasa describes his 3-day visit to Copenhagen, including 2 games played against Holm on the first day (+1-0=1 for von der Lasa), and another 2 on the next day (+2 for von der Lasa). The dates may be deduced from von der Lasa's statement that he was in Denmark for only three days at the turn of the year ('Gerade beim Jabreswechsel') and that he was invited to meet the players of the local chess society, which met on Wednesdays and Fridays. So the first pair of games must have been played on Wednesday 30 Dec. 1846 or Friday 1 Jan. 1846, with the remaining two played the next day at a friend's house. His description is not sufficiently precise to decide between these two pairs of dates, but I will guess at the former. |
