| In a report in the Schachzeitung of Jul. 1849, von der Goltz mentions meeting Gordon in Aachen. This comes after a report of games with von Henneken in Coblenz in Mar. 1848, and later than other matches and series of informal games between Gordon and von der Goltz, but must be earlier than June 1849, when von der Goltz left Aachen. I will guess that this match occurred in 1849. |
