| The result 7-6 for Cairns is given in the 1 July 1880 issue of the Chess Player's Chronicle. The Weekly Irish Times of 5 Jun. 1880 gives the result as +7-6=1 for Cairns. I will guess that the match finished in early June, but it could have been finished in May. |
