| Aside from the precise scores given by McDonnell in his notebook for play with Mackenzie on six dates in October, van Winsen states that on two other occasions, Mackenzie won all the games. I record that here as a soft result of 9-0, since on the six specified dates they played an average of 4.5 games per day (27 games over 6 days). This makes the combined score over 8 days of play 23-13 for Mackenzie (rather than the misleading 14-13 if we only include the results McConnell recorded). Van Winsen also says that they played on 3 Nov. but no score is given for that. I will guess that the dates on which Mackenzie won all games were also in October or November. |
