| The account by Guido Kieseritzky in the Schachzeitung does not say when this game took place, but he says that Baron Franz von Ungern-Sternberg came to Dorpat at the time that he and his brother Lionel were 'Tertianer' at the Gymnasium (grammar school). They both entered the grammer school in Dorpat in 1819, so I am guessing that they were 'Tertianer' about 1822, and that the game with von Ungern-Sternberg took place then. This is a very tentative reading of the account, and it could have been considerably later. |
