Notes: |
In preparation for the Boston - Chicago Match of 30 May 1898, F.F. Wilcox, J.H. Brown, and C.F. Bliss competed for positions on the Chicago team, and 'tied their scores', according to the American Chess Magazine of Jul. 1898 (p.21), so I will assume a drawn game between each pair as a soft result, and guess that these games finished in May 1898. The report also says that J.H. Brown 'finally was victor', but it is not clear whether this was after further games, or perhaps a coin toss. |
