| Part of a match in which Mackenzie gave various odds to Richmond, even, Pawn and Move, Pawn and Two Moves and Knight. The 1 Jan. 1879 issue of the Westminster Papers says Mackenzie arrived in Buffalo on the '7th ultimo' (so presumably 7 Dec. 1878), and is to play a match with Richmond. The 11 Jan. 1879 issue of the Illustrated London News gives the final result, so I guess that this finished in Jan. 1879. |
