| According to the 15 Nov. 1881 issue of La Stratégie (quoted by Cornil), the match conditions were that to win the match de Rivière had to win 7 before Gudju won a single game, which he succeeded in doing. From the date of the report, I guess that this match took place in Nov. 1881. |
