Gossip, in the International Chess Magazine of June 1888, says that Redding scored 2-3 against Zukertort during the latter's visit to San Francisco. However, it is clear from the Oct. 1884 issue of the Chess Monthly, the Oct. 1884 issue of British Chess Magazine and the 3 Aug. 1884 issue of the New Orleans Times-Democrat, that Zukertort won all 5 games, though Redding put up a good fight in 2 of them. |
