Biographical data
Name: Common, Walter
Born: 1818
Died: 1897

Notes:
There was a 'W. Common' active in Yorkshire chess in the 1840s and 1850s, who Steve Mann tentatively identifies as Walter Common, the father of Arthur Welsh Common. Walter Common died in 1897, so could have been the 'W. Common' who played in the Lancashire - Yorkshire County Match of 1883. Steve Mann gives year of birth of Walter Common as 1817-1818.
