An 'E. Hobson' is listed as a Huddersfield player at the Bradford Meeting in Nov. 1884 and at the first Yorkshire County Chess Club Meeting in Jan.-June 1886, but as a Bradford player against Sheffield in the Woodhouse Cup Match of Mar. 1886. An 'EC Hobson' is listed as a Huddersfield player against Sheffield and District in Sep. 1884 and in Zukertort's Simultaneous Blindfold Display in 1881. A 'C.E. Hobson' is listed as a Huddersfield player against Holmfirth in Mar. 1884 and against Bradford Exchange in Apr. 1884, identified by Steve Mann as Charles Edward Hobson. I am guessing that all of these refer to the same person. Perhaps he often went by his middle name, Edward. Another question is whether this was the same player as 'E. Dobson'.
