Event table notes

Event data
Name: Southern Counties Chess Union Congress - Class II, Section A
Place: Plymouth
Start date: 31 Aug. 1903
End date: 8 Sep. 1903

Notes:
Sergeant in A Century of British Chess (p.241) and the British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1903 (p.415) give dates for the Congress 31 Aug. - 9 Sep. 1903; Gaige and Di Felice give dates for the Congress 21 Aug. - 10 Sep. 1903. The Chess Devon website says that Bremridge was 1st equal at 5.5 points, but the Standard of 15 Sept. 1903 gives total scores and the British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1903 give a complete crosstable, both showing Bremridge with a score of 3 out of 7. The British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1903 (p.416) says that the Class II semi-finals were played on Sept. 8. Dickinson and MacBean evidently beat out Mrs. Anderson, because she did not appear in the Final, but scores of this play-off are not given.
