Event data |
Name: 1st Yorkshire County Chess Club Meeting - Consolation Tournament |
Place: Bradford |
Start date: 23 Jan. 1886 |
End date: 5 June 1886 |
|
Notes: |
This was a knock-out tournament for players who lost in the first round of the main event (apart from Muff who appears to have joined in to make up an even number). The first two rounds were played on 23 Jan. 1886; the third was played on 5 June 1886. The second round game between Rea and Shepherd was never played: the Leeds Mercury of 5 June 1886 (p.7) indicates that Shepherd 'resigned', i.e. withdrew. I am guessing that it was J.M. Browne (from Class C), rather than L.R. Browne (from Class D) who played in this event. |
