Event data |
Name: 19th German Chess Federation Congress - Meisterturnier |
Place: Mannheim |
Start date: 19 July 1914 |
End date: 2 Aug. 1914 |
|
Notes: |
Gaige and Di Felice give start date as 19 Jul. 1914; Hilbert gives start date as 20 Jul. 1914. Skinner and Verhoeven give the start date as 19 Jul. 1914 on p.744, but on p.101 they say that play actually started on 20 Jul. 1914. Most sources give 2 Aug. 1914 as the end date, but Skinner and Verhoeven say on p.101 that the last day of play was 1 Aug. 1914. The tournament was interrupted after 11 rounds by the outbreak of the 1st World War. Feenstra Kuiper, Gaige, Di Felice and Skinner and Verhoeven give identical crosstables, though Gaige says it is only a tentative reconstruction based on contradictory reports. |
