| Only partial results available. This was a 16-player knockout tournament. The New York Clipper of 15 Jan. 1859 announces that the tournament is underway. The report in the issue of 22 Jan. 1859 gives the pairings for the 3rd round. The report in the issue of 19 Mar. 1859 says that Skinner and Brown won in the third round, but does not give the scores, so I use 1-0 for these to be conservative. The fourth round result between Skinner and Brown is given exactly as +3-1=2 for Skinner. |
