Start date: 22 Nov. 1884 |
End date: 22 Nov. 1884 |

Notes: |
The report in the Leeds Mercury (29 Nov. 1884, p.7) only indicates who beat who, without giving scores. However, this was a one-day event and so almost certainly consisted of a single game per pairing, so I assume 1-0 in each case. The final was not played; Quarkowsky and Howell divided first and second prizes. I have guessed that the 'Howell' of Leeds at this event was 'F.C. Howell', though it might be 'A. Howell'. There is a possibility that 'L. Brooke' should be C.L. Brook, that 'E. Hickson' could be 'I. Hickson', and that 'T. Howard' could be Thomas Ross Howard. |
