Event data |
Name: 1st Yorkshire County Chess Club Meeting - Woodshifters Class |
Place: Bradford |
Start date: 23 Jan. 1886 |
End date: 23 Jan. 1886 |
|
Notes: |
Designed as a knock-out tournament, but only two rounds were played. The identity of players is uncertain. Petty, Padgett, and Garside, might be Joshua Petty, H.C. Padgett and T.D. Garside, respectively, but those players seem unlikely to have been playing in the Woodshifters class, Joshua Petty because he had been a stronger player for many years, and H.C. Padgett and T.D. Garside because they were playing in higher sections of this same event. Also, it is unclear which Greenwood played here, possibly T. Greenwood or W. Greenwood, and whether Lupton was T. Lupton, who played in Scotland in the first years of the 20th century. |
