Name: Southern Counties Chess Union Congress - Class II, Section B
Place: Plymouth
Start date: 31 Aug. 1903
End date: 8 Sep. 1903

Notes:
Sergeant in A Century of British Chess (p.241) and the British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1903 (p.415) give dates for the Congress 31 Aug. - 9 Sep. 1903; Gaige and Di Felice give dates for the Congress 21 Aug. - 10 Sep. 1903. The Standard of 15 Sep. 1903 has 'Cooke' at this event; the British Chess Magazine of Oct. 1903 (pp.415, 418) has 'C.F. Corke'. The British Chess Magazine (p.416) says that semi-finals in Class II were played off on Sep. 8. Results of this play-off are not given, but Clark must have beaten Lewis, because Clark was present in the Class II final, while Lewis was not. I record this as 1-0 for Clark.
