   | Reichhelm indicates that the game Thompson-Newman was not played, while Gaige, who cites Reichhelm's book as his source, indicates it as a win for Thompson. Strangely, Reichhelm also indicates that Elson did not play his game against Wilson, but played a second game against Newman, scoring 1.5/2. Gaige indicates that Elson beat Wilson and drew against Newman. The effect of these discrepancies on these players' total scores is that according to Reichhelm, Wilson scored 4.5-1.5 and Thompson scored 2.5-3.5, while according to Gaige, Wilson scored 4.5-2.5 and Thompson scored 3.5-3.5. Di Felice reproduces Gaige's crosstable. Hilbert gives Wilson's score as 4.5-1.5, agreeing with Reichhelm. I have tentatively accepted Gaige's crosstable, assuming that he corrected Reichhelm's table from other information. I do not know if this is the case, though. | | | |
