| Partial results available. This was a 98 player handicap tournament, which appears to have been reduced to 12 for the final all-play-all (since the scores in the final were out of 11). Thus, probably 3 elimination rounds occurred (reduced to 49 after 1 round and if 1 more did not continue, then the remaining 48 would have been reduced to 24 after 2 rounds and 12 after 3 rounds). The only score we have is from the 1st round where de Rivière met Taubenhaus in a 4-game match (perhaps the winner was the first to win 2 games, since the first 2 games here were draws). Dates are not given, but the first round result is given in the Feb. 15, 1888 issue of La Stratégie, and the results of the final are given in the Apr. 15 issue, so I am guessing that the elimination rounds finished in March. |
