Event table notes

Event data
Name: Athletic Club Handicap Tournament
Place: Los Angeles
Start date: 1894
End date: Dec. 1894

Notes:
The full list of scores is given in the 5 Dec. 1894 issue of the Los Angeles Herald (p.10), so I am guessing that it ended in early Dec. 1894. The issue of 27 Dec. 1894 (p.9) gives the result of Pierce as +9-0=2, which is not consistent with the scores given earlier. Odds between classes are not spelled out, but the 27 Dec. 1894 issue of the Los Angeles Herald gives a game between Pierce and Jones-Bateman from this event, in which Pierce gives odds of Pawn and Two Moves to Jones-Bateman, so I am guessing that the odds given for class differences of 1, 2 and 3 were Pawn and Two Moves, Knight, and Rook, respectively, which would be typical.
