Event table notes

Event data
Name: San Francisco - Los Angeles Telegraphic Match
Place: San Francisco and Los Angeles
Start date: 21 May 1899
End date: 21 May 1899

Notes:
There was also a game between Rodney Kendrick and [C.W. ?] Waterman which was unfinished, and to be finished by mail (Waterman lost). I will not include this game. I am guessing that it was R.B. Griffith playing for Los Angeles, and not Gilbert Griffith (a San Francisco player). I am also guessing that 'Chandler' was S.C. Candler. This is indicated in a review of this match in the 17 Mar. 1902 issue of the Los Angeles Herald (p.4), which, however, claims that Peipers played for Los Angeles instead of Pierce, and that his opponent was 'Bampton', when it should have been Manson. I will trust the earlier reports on the names of the participants.
