Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was a 6-player double-round all-play-all tournament. The California Chess Reporter of Jul. 1952 (pp.28-29) gives only the scores of Fink, Gross, Lovegrove and Vedensky. H. Borochow and S. Rubinstein withdrew in the 'early stages' of the tournament. Fink's and Gross's scores are out of 8. Lovegrove's and Vedensky's scores are out of 7. I will guess that one of the two players who withdrew played one game each against the 4 remaining players, while the other played one game against Fink and Gross, but none at all against Lovegrove and Vedansky. The only specific information we have on scores of Borochow and Rubinstein is that Borochow lost his first two games (Los Angeles Times, 30 Sep. 1928, p.20). This is not enough to include their scores for rating. The play-off for the championship was won by Fink, with score not given, so I presume 1-0. The Los Angeles Times of 30 Sep. 1928 says the tournament was pending, so I will guess that it started in Sep. and ended in Oct. 1928. |
