Event table notes

Event data
Name: California Championship
Place: San Francisco
Start date: Sep. 1928
End date: 7 Oct. 1928

Notes:
This was a 6-player double-round all-play-all tournament. H. Borochow withdrew after playing 5 games (all of the first round), and S. Rubinstein withdrew after playing 3 games. Official scores include results against Borochow, but not Rubinstein. Fink's, Lovegrove's, and Borochow's draws against Rubinstein are includeed here though for rating. The Los Angeles Times of 30 Sep. 1928 says the tournament was pending, so I will guess that it started in Sep. 1928. According to the San Francisco Chronicle of 7 Oct. 1928, the play-off game was to be played that afternoon.
