Event table notes

Event data
Name: 7th German Chess Federation Congress - Meisterturnier
Place: Dresden
Start date: 17 July 1892
End date: 30 July 1892

Notes:
The tournament started with 18 players, but Alapin withdrew, according to Feenstra Kuiper and La Grande Storia degli Scacchi, after 12 rounds. However, Feenstra Kuiper also says that his score was not counted because he had played less than half his games and that his score when he withdrew was 56.25%, which is not possible if he had played 12 games, but is consistent with a score of 4.5/8. La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives a score for 9 of Alapin's games (giving him 4.5 points) and a '?' for 3 others. Di Felice gives scores for 7 of his games, indicating that the others were not played, and these 7 are not exactly 7 of the 9 given by La Grande Storia degli Scacchi. They agree on his losses to Walbrodt, Winawer and Mason, draws with Tarrasch and von Gottschall, and his win over Loman, but Di Felice gives a draw against Noa, while La Grande Storia degli Scacchi gives this game as '?', but gives also a draw against von Scheve, wins against Mieses and Paulsen and '?' against Makovetz and Albin. Gaige omits Alapin altogether from the crosstable. I have adopted Di Felice's version, but Alapin's actual results need to be confirmed. Feenstra Kuiper gives the dates as 17-30 June 1892; Gaige and Di Felice give 17-30 July 1892.
