Name: Kieseritzky Gambit Tournament |
Place: Utrecht |
Start date: 7 July 1864 |
End date: 7 July 1864 |
|
Notes: |
Only partial results available. Players were paired by lot and had to play two games on opposite sides of the Kieseritzky Gambit. (However, a few games seem to have been played with different openings, e.g., one of the Tromp-Lund games, which was perhaps not an official tournament game.) I record only results where I have both games played between a pair of players. Two games between Noordbergh and Lund are given, but in both cases Noordbergh plays white. However, on p.350, Sissa says that one of those games was included in error (probably it was not a tournament game). The actual tournament game, which is not given, was lost through a blunder by Lund. So the tournament result for Lund and Noordbergh is 1-1. There were 16 players in total, and we have the results of some additional (unpaired) games, besides the ones included (in pairs) here for rating: W. Deutz - M. van Doorninck 1-0 (pp.245-246); Spoelstra - Tromp 1-0 (pp.246-247); Kloos - Dubois 1-0 (pp.262-264); Spoelstra - Noordbergh 1/2-1/2 (pp.292-293, 350); W.I.L. Verbeek - Dubois 0-1 (pp.294-295). |
