This was an 8-player single-round all-play-all, with three classes of players, and odds of Pawn and Two Moves for a class difference of 1, and odds of a Knight for a class difference of 2. The Huddersfield College Magazine reports only the scores of the top 4. Brearley's score is given as 5-1, but I will guess that this is an error for 5-2. Yates' and Owen's scores are given as 4.5-2, which I take to mean 4.5-2.5. The other 4 players were T. Holliday (the only first class player), E. Dyson (like Finlinson in the 2nd class), and Broadbent and W. Marriott (both in the third class, like Brearley, Yates, and Owen). |
