Notes: |
It seems clear from the report in the Westminster Papers that each club was represented by a single player. Who beat whom is specified, but not how many games comprised each match, nor an exact score, so I use a 1-0 result in each case. Keates represented Bermondsey, Leigh represented Kilburn, Tiley represented St. Pancras, Chatto represented the Bedford Institute, and Cohen represented the Jewish Working Men's Club. The representative of the Stockwell Club (presumably the St. Andrews Club in Stockwell) is not named. That player lost to Cohen in the first round. Although there were 6 clubs, for some reason the Bedford Club (Chatto) had only to play in the last round, so the St. Pancras (Tiley) had a bye in the first two rounds. |
