Notes: |
Only partial results available. This was one two sections of eight players each in a handicap tournament. The play-off between the winners of the two sections is recorded separately here. Van Winsen gives us only the result that Barnett and Spence were joint winners with 10 out of 14 points each. This suggests a two-round all-play-all tournament, which I assume. Barnett and Spence then played a match to determine the section winner. The full list of 16 contestants in the tournament are given, but it is not clear for some to which section they belonged, and in most cases the odds classes of players are not known. The other 14 contestants were L. Abrahams, Bogart, W.B. Davis, Eugene Delmar, S.R. Dill, John D. Elwell, A.S. Gibson, Ingalls, Henry M. Muñoz, Frederick Perrin, J.P. Phillips, H.P. Robinson, Ch. Schieren, and John S. Turner. Perrin was in the same section as Barnett and Spence, while Delmar and Muñoz were in the other section. Barnett, Delmar, Perrin, and Muñoz were all 1st class players. |
