Only partial results available. This was an 18-player single-round all-play-all tournament, but draws did not count and were replayed. We are given the names of all 18 players in the Schachzeitung of 1865 (p.142), and we are told that von Schmidt came first with no losses, that Lange came second with only 1 loss, and that Minckwitz came third with only 2 losses. Clearly, Lange lost only to von Schmidt, and Minckwitz to von Schmidt and Lange, but we are not given scores of the other players, and of course the scores of the top three don't consider draws. The Schachzeitung also has 9 games that are explicitly said to be part of the tournament, and these include three draws, which I therefore include for rating (von Schmidt - Minckwitz, von Schmidt - Pici, and Lange - Minckwitz), as well as a win by von Gottschall over Pici, which I also include, as well as the obvious wins of the top three against the rest. This gives only a partial crosstable, but I use it for rating since it helps to assess the strength of a few players with few or no other results. The games given in the Schachzeitung have dates between Jan. and Apr. 1865, and the final result is reported in the May 1865 issue, so I will guess that it ended in Apr. 1865. |
